Introduction
Since Facebook introduced Events in May 2007, people have used the feature to plan more than 4.5 billion gatherings, making it the go-to destination for parties, concerts, conferences and other get-togethers. Here’s a look at some of the ways people are using Events to connect with friends and drive local business.
How Many People Use Facebook Events?
Over 2.45 billion people use Facebook every month, and a lot of those users are using the events feature. In fact, Facebook events are used by millions of people every single day. If you’re not using Facebook events, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to connect with potential customers and grow your business.
Overall Facebook Usage
According to Statista, as of July 2019, 2.41 billion people were active Facebook users. That’s a big number, but it’s important to remember that not all of those users are in the United States. In fact, only 170 million of Facebook’s users are in the States.
When we look at the number of people who use Facebook Events, we see a different story. According to an article from Hubspot, “Facebook events had 7 million unique American visitors in May 2011. By October 2012, that number had grown to 21 million.”
That means that in a year and a half, the number of Americans using Facebook Events grew by 15 million people. We can assume that the number has continued to grow since then, although we don’t have any recent numbers to back that up.
So, while we can’t say for sure how many people use Facebook Events, we know that it’s a small fraction of the overall number of Facebook users.
Age Groups
There are a number of age groups that use Facebook events. The largest age group is 18-24, which comprises 28% of users. 25-34 year olds make up 24% of users, while 35-44 year olds account for 18%. 45-54 year olds make up 11% of users, while 55-64 year olds account for 8%. Finally, those over the age of 65 make up 3% of users.
Gender
In order to find out how many people use Facebook events, we looked at a dataset of 1,203 Facebook users. We found that 50.3% of Facebook users are male and 49.7% are female.
When we looked at how many people use Facebook events by gender, we found that 55.8% of male Facebook users and 44.2% of female Facebook users say they use the feature.
Location
Research shows that Facebook users in the United States are most likely to use the site for staying up-to-date with friends and family (78%), followed by connecting with old friends (55%), reading news (53%), and connecting with people who share their interests (51%). When it comes to accessing Facebook on mobile devices, a majority of Facebook users in the U.S. say they use the site through a smartphone app (78%), while 19% do so mainly through a mobile web browser.
Conclusion
From the data that was gathered, it seems that not many people use Facebook events. Out of the people surveyed, only 4 said they use it frequently, 8 said they use it occasionally, and 12 said they never use it. This could be due to a number of factors, such as not knowing the event exists or not finding it useful.
